What can stay when you upgrade your Garmin chartplotter?

Select the Garmin networked electronics already on your boat. This checker applies Garmin’s current BlueNet compatibility and gateway rules to show what can connect directly, what goes through a BlueNet 30 gateway, and what has a special path.

Scope: network reuse only. A network-compatible device may not have full feature parity with a newer chartplotter. This does not design wiring, NMEA 2000, transducer electrical compatibility, autopilot installation, or navigation setup.

Garmin says legacy Garmin Marine Network chartplotters or peripheral devices not on its compatibility table are most likely not compatible with BlueNet. For an unlisted model, this checker stays conservative until the exact model is verified.

The key BlueNet migration rules this checker applies

One gateway, not several

Garmin says a mixed BlueNet/legacy network must use only one BlueNet 30 gateway.

Two legacy ports

The BlueNet 30 has two legacy Garmin Marine Network ports. With more than two legacy devices, they must remain interconnected through eligible chartplotter ports or a GMS 10 switch before reaching the gateway.

Some devices should skip the gateway

OnDeck is a clear example: Garmin directs it to the BlueNet side with an adapter and says not to route it through the gateway. Other devices use Wi‑Fi or direct adapter paths.

Unlisted is not “probably fine”

Garmin warns that legacy Garmin Marine Network devices not on its compatibility table are most likely not compatible with BlueNet and may cause poor system performance. This checker does not guess around that boundary.

Device families currently covered

The first probe uses Garmin’s BlueNet compatibility reference plus current 9000xsv/9000/9500 documentation. It also explicitly flags older GPSMAP 4000/5000, 6000/7000 and 8000/8200 families as not listed / likely incompatible rather than leaving common upgrade searches unresolved. Covered compatible families include GPSMAP 8400/8600, 10x2/12x2, 7400/7600, 7x2/9x2/12x2, 7x3/9x3/12x3/16x3, GMR HD/xHD2, xHD3 and Fantom radar families, GLS 10, GSD 24/25/26/28, GCV 10/20, Panoptix models, GHC 50, Reactor 40, GXM 53/54, OnDeck GTB 10, Fusion Apollo stereos, GC cameras and other listed networked devices.
